Design nr. 5 - Ahoy Sailor!

Design nr. 5 - Ahoy Sailor! - for Antoinette

Here we have Design nr. 5 - for Antoinette! A simple design, yet somehow elegant and casual in the same time. This is a one piece Design, that means that the top is sewed with the bottom. The dress is 80% perfect, or 50% yet i made some mistakes wile i was building up the dress and because of that mistake i might need to remake the outfit!
Enjoy the doll dressed with this design!

EDIT: Yesterday I said that i might remake the dress... today i'm saying that I don't need to rework it! I managed to fix the back of the dress [the part that was not allowing the dress to come off] with cutting and sewing some elements. Now the dress comes off and on, a little hard is true, but it dose.

Antoinette - Cameo - Finally Home

Yesterday was the day I came home with sweet Antoinette Cameo! Really pale skin with a light blond hair, gray blue eyes and eyeshadow and a little touch of pink in her cheeks; you already knew that, but i had to tell you that she is amazing. In the near Future i hope i'll manage to get the other 2 Antoinette. First i really have to get Antoinette Bloom [she is my favorite, yet i wasn't lucky] and then Antoinette Spice! Wish me luck in getting them ^_^...

Tonight I'll think about another design for Antoinette and i hope that tomorrow I'll manage to start working on the design

Design nr. 4 - Work In Progress

Design nr. 4 - Work In Progress - for Antoinette

Cute Design no?! Something that probably was done before by many designers, used as a gorgeous red carpet dress by a famous star, even you [if you are girl] wore something quite similar, maybe even a doll got dressed in something like this!!!

I know is not an original design, but i started thinking today as I was looking at some other doll's fashion designers and how their creations was screaming : FASHION! GLAMOROUS! WOW! and decided that [even if i'm not prepared] I should start making those kind of wonderful fashion design, designs that are meant for dolls! So I took my pen and paper, and started drawing thinking at: the black material that i brought a few days ago, about the sewing staple [ i think this is how they are called]and some other elements that i don't have yet [tomorrow will be a wonderful day for some shopping] and managed to make this simple design yet Fashionable. As my mind had processed the pattern and how things will be sewed together, everything sounds pretty easy [if you have a sewing machine] yet hard [if you doing the hand sewing].

This is the first design I post on it's own without the final result [the doll dressed] and if this will be a success i'll do more post like this one: first the design, then the dressed doll.

Wish me luck!!! hopefully the dress will come out as i wish

Design nr. 3 - It Wasn't Meant To Be

DESIGN NR. 3 - "It Wasn't Meant To Be" - for Antoinette

The title says it all! Design nr 3 " It Wasn't Meant To Be", it wasn't meant to be a design. It just happened! Actually I wanted to remake an outfit I did for Barbie:

And i did it. Using baby pink elastic cotton [don't know if it has a special name] I created, hand sewing directly on the doll, a body suit for Antoinette. Here you have 2 more extra shots of the Design nr. 3

And Here you have 2 extra shots i took today using a little stupid 7.1 megapixel digital camera [ Olympus FE-210] that somehow turned out to be really good ^_^

Design nr.2 - Maybe "The Night Grown"

Design Nr. 2 - for Antoinette

Finally managed to finish my second design than i think it can be called: "The Night Grown". It took me more than I wanted! Summed we have 6 hours for measurements, pattern making, and cutting the material [ the material is an really old one, found it in my house hidden in a box], 12 hours more or less for the hand sewing.

This design is an 60% fail or 50%; maybe because is not finished, i still need to sew the back of the "dress" to give it shape... and a front bow is missing [don't think i'll add it .. it will look odd], but i must say that i'm proud of myself because i managed to make a pattern only from measurements! Here are some unprofessional pictures taken of Antoinette wearing the "dress"... a thing to remember: Everything was hand sewed!!!!

Further news! Antoinette Cameo [the blond doll] is waiting for me! Why is she waiting you might ask... Here is the answer: I sold 2 of my photos in exchange for Antoinette cameo. That means:

The doll arrived to the buyer of my photos, and now is my turn to go and print the pictures and give them in the exchange of Antoinette! If you want to see the lucky pictures that got sold, go here: http://andymy.deviantart.com

And the last news... I brought a black material !! what i'll do with it is still secret! you will find out in my future posts! Till then have fun with your dolls and wish you the best, dear Reader!

Antoinette - Honney I HAVE HER

HUGE NEWS.. like 42 cm BIG !!!

She's home! Today i woke up with the ideea of going to the post service and ask about the box that i was supposed to receive like 2 days ago. And it was there!! I got home in a rush, and opened the red box with a lovely signature: " Antoinette" I HAD HER! [I'll never manage to call a doll like an object, She is more than that!]

I was in a little state of shock! I could not imagine the 40 cm tall doll, big hands, big feet. At first i was a little disappointed, but i was wrong! Now she is my favorite, I just had to get used with the size, and how to managed it without being scared to broke it.

The shoes are gorgeous, the bra and shorts are lovely! her hair is soft and perfect! ANTOINETTE is my favorite DOLL! and i'm not finished: her face is so calm.. and warm , i had a constant feeling of relaxation, she's a fashion doll and a classy one with style!

I love her and will do it forever ...

Going further, the Blonde Antoinette has arrived in Romania, that means that soon i'll have her too in my arms!!! Now is time to make an Antoinette Dummy....

Design nr.1 - The Jacket - new pictures

As i promised in my last post i will make some more brighter pictures of the jacket [used the day light cause my mini-digital camera is not a good one]

Design nr.1 - The Jacket

DESIGN NR. 1- for Barbie

Today I managed to make something that was supposed to look like the sketch above. Well it was a 80% failure, my sewing skills still suck, well they where never good. Hand sewed!

Woke up, took my Duck-tape Dummy, some cotton, and started cutting and arranging pieces of cotton on the dummy. Then i saw something building up, so i grabbed a piece of paper, a pen and starting sketching. I searched in my materials bag [ a small one for the moment] and found some material that belonged to a suit of mine which i destroyed it a few months ago for a dance show. Colored my sketch, took the pieces of cotton that represented "THE JACKET", and worked on the patterns. After i finished them i grabbed a testing material and i tested my patterns and they where to large so i minimized them and tested them again... perfect FIT.

Here i made a big mistake. I used cotton for my testing material. The cotton was elastic and my perfect material was not like cotton. Before i wanted to make something like an armless coat .. but because of my big mistake, after i sewed the material i realized it was not enough to cover my doll .. so i added more material and changed the sketch.

After 8 hours of work i managed to built something. Not perfect but it looks good from the distance. In the pictures below you can see the results! the white vest is the cotton version of the design ...

I apologies for the pictures qualities i'll do tomorrow better ones

As you can see I updated my dummy with a stand [tnx you mom]. Tomorrow i'll remake the patterns for this jacket with their added changes and i'll probably retry to remake the coat with a different material [no more left from the black striped one]. In the weekend i'll go and hunt for materials, a friend of mine is coming at my place and we'll go shopping [i'll look for extra needs too: zippers, buttons, magnetic clips, etc.].

Till the next post .. take care my dear Reader!

Me and My Project

Me and My Project .... nice title no! if you'll replace "Me and" and add "Andy" [ which is my cool short version of my name] it will become AndyMy Project. By the way... ANDYMY is my nickname not my name. anyway let us return to the subject of the second post ..

My Project consist in making doll fashion! yet i'm a beginner don't know lots of stuffs on how to hand sew correctly, how to make patterns, etc. etc... Why hand sewing you will ask; well i don't have a sewing machine, but i'll do whatever i can to buy myself one. Through this project i'll try to evolve and become better in making doll clothes -> maybe human clothes.

I already did some outfits, from a silly material: cotton [silly for dolls] but it was easy to manage here are some examples:

Yet i love the outfits and the pictures. They where done on the balcony where i used to lived, with a Nikon 40D [of a friend] on a sunny cold winter. But that will be the past! I need to look in the future and work my head and arms and do something great!

As you can see in the first picture that this post started with i have a shiny dummy ..hehe .. that was done with duck-tape a soft bag, and stuffed with cotton wool. That will be my voodoo doll [evil grin] for the moment is uncompleted i need to add the high of the doll but i'll do that tomorrow.

Another thing that you probably have noticed is the head and the headless body. If you have read my first post you would find out that i'm re-rooting my first doll that was at first a brunette. I'll finish her someday....

The conclusion: After i'll receive Tonner's Antoinette, and after i'll make a dummy after her body, i'll start making fashion! This weekend i'll go out to search for shops that sell zippers, magnetic clips, etc. and ask for prices. If I'll evolve as much as I wish i might start a little home shop.. but i must warn you from now... i'm working in a smoking environment! My Grandma' is a smoker and she can't quit... but yet we shall see in time .. wish me luck and i'll update soon.

Me and My Dolls

So I start my first blog with telling you i'm a totally beginner in what i will do and what i'll present to you, dear Reader.

Biggest Wish that all my relatives know: to become a fashion designer... The true wish that i realized it a few months ago and no one till now knew about it: I wanna become a fashion designer for dolls and a doll maker.

I always loved dolls, since i was a kid i always asked my mother to buy me dolls .. i know i got a really cheep doll when i was like 5-6 years old. I always played with girls, they had like tons of dolls and i was always welcomed to play with them. I remember that once [ actually someone remembered me] that i stole a mermaid doll thingies ... i was probably jealous or the girl really pissed me off. Anyway i always glanced at dolls and always played with my cousin's dolls ..

Last year i started buying Barbie , my first doll brought from my money [she is now in the process of re-rooting] i always thought that Barbie was the perfect doll .. Romania is not developed into Fashion dolls and other trademarks except Mattel's Barbie and other cheep [made in China] dolls. So i brought 1 doll, then the second Barbie, and the third, till i got to the seventh Barbie doll. So right now i have 7 barbie dolls. They are from the line called : Fashion Fever 2008

I have all the dolls from the commercial except the one in a blue dress the forth from left to right but i have the black skin one that is not present in the commercial, and another cheep Barbie doll. I loved and still love the Fashion Fever dolls because they have the articulated arms.
Yet on the time I was buying Barbie i wasn't paying attention to what the internet was offering me .. a huge variety of Fashion dolls. at the end of last year and this year too i studied Robert Tonner and his Antoinette doll ... I LOVE IT!! and managed to order one of the few dolls left of Antoinette. So i'll receive this week Antoinette Honey Basic:

Image belongs to Robert Tonner

Yep she'll be here soon .. i can't wait!! let's say i'm obsessed!! You might ask yourself why a Tonner, and not other dolls.. well lets say that Tonner's basic are cheep something that my mom's pocket can carry [ I lost my job, lost my university, got back to my parents house reason .... financial crisis ]. But yet i managed to make a deal with someone and sold 2 of my photographs [ i'm an artist too- draw, paint, photograph (when i have a camera)] in exchange of Tonner's Cameo [the blond doll] yet i'm about to lose my favorite doll [the Bloom one] love her skintone and hair ... to bad i don't have money left .. yet i'll find a way .
